Who else is going to watch this this fall? It looks like it's going to be pretty funny - and it's from teh same guys who produced Friends and Mad About You! I loved those shows, so I think I'll try this out, too.

According to last nights BB live blog, Hannah was up for that role....

Then I am doubly happy that Sara Gilbert got the part. Hee ;)

But really, I think Gilbert is a very good comic actress - I think the fact that she's joining a show with such a big, diverse cast means that there will be a lot for her to play off of/work with. I'm def. glad to see her back on TV. (Or will be in a week or so, at any rate.) And I just noticed it has Lizzy Caplan, too. She was great in Mean Girls.

Opinions? I still had the same feelings watching it last night as I did when I originally watched the Pilot. It's just all wacky sidekicks with very little "normal" people. It's like Friends with 3 Phoebes & 3 Joeys... I dunno if that's funny.

I thought this was really funny. I LOVED the red headed depressed guy, and the backing over the girl with the car thing. Hi-larious. I also liked Duncan, the guy that constantly argued with his mom.

I liked that not all the characters are cookie cutter, and I'm interested to see how they all do end up really reconnecting as we go on.

So I'm currently on unemployment vacation, so I decided to check out a couple tapings. I'm going to a taping of The Class tonight! I'm so lucky that I'm going to see the stars of the hit CBS show, "The Class!" Should be interesting, I'm also schedule to go see "Happy Hour" next week - unless it gets cancelled by then. Hmmm... I might as well get tickets to "Til Death" since they're taping down the street.

Try going to the first taping of Rock Star: INXS and being in the pit and standing the whole entire time during taping. Trust me, by the end of the night, I wasn't in the mood to be clapping and jumping up and down. I just wanted the experience to be over with.

It's my first Sitcom taping. I've been in the audience of "Wheel of Fortune," "American Idol" finale, "Politically Incorrect," "Rock Star: INXS/Supernova," and the "Survivor: Guatemala" Reunion/Finale. We'll see how it goes with a sitcom

That INXS one sounds horrible!!!
Sitcoms are different because they do multiple takes, change scenes midway, set up scenes... it can take hours. I am interseted to hear how it goes for you! :)
I definatly like the talk show/reality show tapings better!

For Rock Star: INXS, there were like 16 contestants. So one person would sing and then we'd have to wait and then the next person sang and then we waited... it went on forever and just got tiring after awhile and my feet hurt. By the time they got to Rock Star: Supernova, they knew what they were doing and it went by pretty fast.

Reality shows, talk shows, and game shows are easier to sit through in the audience because they usually tape in real time and just stop for commercials breaks and do very little pick ups. And I'm totally aware of sitcom shooting... I've always hated being on set because I get bored waiting... but at least I'll be sitting down.

Some friends and I went to a taping of "In Living Colour" back in the day. It was the Star Trek episode that featured Jim Carrey as Captain Kirk and Damon Wayans as the Rev Farrakahn. It took more than 3 hours to get the 5 minute skit taped. I only laughed for the first hour...

I would love to go to a taping of something! We never get the chance for that kind of thing on the East Coast, except on the random occasions when The West Wing used to come to town to film.

I watched The Class again last night - I really like the Class/HIMYM pairing, it's a good comedy block. I enjoyed how they didn't rush into having the whole cast hanging out again, but rather separate storylines that involved a couple of them. I am sure there will be more moments where they all interact again, but I like the realistic build up to it (those that are in scenes together right at the moment feel natural, if that makes sense.)

Duncan and Nicole are cute together, too. But Richie is still my favorite. :)

I dunno, when you have to have a recap for a sitcom... it's not exactly a good thing. It's basically 4 seperate sitcoms airing at the same time. If it was up to me, I'd probably get rid of the Holly, Kyle & the gay husband story line. We've seen Will & Grace already... If you get rid one of the couples, you'll have more time with the other couples. It's like you're getting interested in one storyline and then they switch to one of the storyline you really don't care for and it sorta drags down the show. I guess so far my favorite is Lina & Ritchie... I just like that crazy pair.

CBS Swaps 'Class,' 'Mother'

'The Class' slides down to 8:30

Zap2It.com

October 4 2006

CBS is making a scheduling change on Monday nights, reversing its 8 p.m. hour comedies.

"The Class," this season's designated sitcom savior, was supposed to kickstart CBS' Monday comedies and give a boost to the critically adored "How I Met Your Mother."

It hasn't worked out that way. Instead, "The Class" is averaging roughly 8.95 million viewers through its first three episodes, shedding audience with each passing week. The comedy, about a group of 20-somethings reunited with random members of their third grade class, has averaged a 3.1 rating in among adults 18-49, the key advertiser-friendly demographic.

Meanwhile, "How I Met Your Mother" has pulled in 9.65 million in the 8:30 p.m. slot, up slightly from its average first season audience. The series has improved on its lead-in each of the past two weeks and is averaging a 3.6 demo rating for the season.

Moving "HIMYM" to the 8 p.m. anchor slot actually restores the original Monday order that CBS announced at the upfronts in May. The network decided to reverse the comedies back in July, perhaps counting on buzz for "The Class," which was created by David Crane ("Friends") and Jeffrey Klarik ("Mad About You").

The change will go into effect immediately, starting on Monday, Oct. 9.

It's really not that bad of a show, is it? I like that the characters aren't sitcom perfect. Jason Ritter's character just wants to have sex, the redheaded guy has a wife/girlfriend. Something still feels off about it, but I hope it settles in and sticks around a while.

It's like I already know where the plot lines are going. When it's on I find myself doing other things and then occasionally looking up to see if they are doing what I thought...and Yep - they are. I think I find that kind of nice as compared to some of the other shows where I am totally LOST.

Was that Sara Gilbert in the sofa bed at the end?

There's only 2 things that are going to be annoying on this show-first, they are obviously setting up Jason Ritter's character to end up with the Joan Jett-looking chick, so it'll probably happen somewhere at the end of the season. Do we really need another Rachel/Ross thing? Second, exactly what the hell is the ex-football player's name? (David Keith)

Otherwise, it's a cute show. Not great, but like someone else posted once it finds its legs it could be a good show.

They are showing a live rehearsal tomorrow on the CBS site, if anyone is interested - I love behind the scenes stuff, so I'm loving the chance to watch stuff like this. We have breaking news about, and not from, Holly Ellenbogen: A CBS spokesperson confirms that Lucy Punch, who played The Class' high-strung news anchor, is leaving the series. In a statement released to TVGuide.com, the freshman sitcom's executive producers explain, "Due to creative changes, Lucy Punch is no longer a cast member. She is a superb actress and did a fabulous job. We hope to work with her again in the near future."

I guess this is what Jason Ritter meant when he told me they were "reworking some things" with Punch's character, though Holly's "colorful" hubby, played by Sam Harris, will apparently stick around.

I wish they'd canned her gay/straight hubs. He was more over the top than she was. Plus there was one good thing about her (only 1) when they morphed in the opening credits from child to adult, she had the most interesting morph thanks to her silicone balloons. It's interesting to see how quickly they scrapped her though.

Now ditch the dude and the show will be even better!
