So, what did everybody think?

I didn't like Jeffrey's pants. They were a little too Billie Joe Armstrong for me. I'm glad Angela left, though. And I loved the comment Jeffrey made about her; I can't remember it but it involved crafting and macaroni art.

Last night was rich. Dying for the recap. Jeffrey's rhinestone choker accentuating his crotch was indicative of his narcissistic, addictive personality. "In case anyone was wondering, here is my cock." I knew Uli would get reamed for making the same old amazingly gorgeous dress. Who is cooler than Laura? She's my new best friend.

Laura should have won that - her dress was incredible.

I hated Jeffery's pants. UGH! He was really a total jerk. I loved Laura's dress and Uli's even though it was the same she always makes it was still pretty. I think Michael is a really nice person and a great designer. I'm glad he almost won again!

Laura's dress was gorgeous, but did nobody else think it was a horrible color for her?
Kayne's outfit was horrible but I adore him. I'm going to miss him when he gets auf'ed next week (probably). :(

What was Kayne thinking? When the guest designer told him he looked ridiculous I just kept thinking that he still has to wear that shit. He looked like a big gay Elvis.

While I'm a Michael fan all the way I did seriously love that one time Jeffie wins is the episode Angela has to go home. And say what you will about Vincent, that's exactly the outfit my father travels in...not that Daddy Noodle is a jet setter by any means...and it really did travel well. Did anyone else notice in the previews for next week laura is wearing her trademark white button knotted above the baby bump?

WEll, in Kaynes defense, who wouldn't want to look like a gay Elvis?
Great episode. Loved the change of venue. Love taht the rest of the season is done from Paris. THought Laura looked hot with her hair done up like that and with her little pregnant belly (pregnant chicks glow. You should see Lizardqueen right now). Also loved her bitchy attitude.
Jeff wasa deuche as always this episode, but his outfit was pretty good. And while I didnt want angela to go only because i didnt want to give jeff teh satisfation, her outfit was just a giant peice of shit. Need to make an outfit that can travel and she picks linen?
Will we meet a French Tim next week?
"Faire le emploi!"
I agree - Angela's outfit was horrible but I can't believe karma let Jeffrey win in the same challenge Angela lost. He is such an ASS and so immature! Of course, he was going to win if it a Parisian had the final say.
Now, I have to defend my fellow Oklahoman and say that what killed Kayne were the flared pants. That gave his outfit the Elvis look. The shirt was over the top but I can totally see Roberto Cavalli or Karl Lagerfield designing a shirt like that.

The judges are onto Uli...even though her stuff is well constructed, she's turning out to be a one trick pony..sheer colorful material and a flowing gown-like structure. While Laura definitely has a style, unlike Uli she mixed it up. And she did look hot with that new 'do. What I mistook for bitchiness is actually an all-work attitude.
And those comments the guest designer made to Kayne. Yow! He looked devastated.
Angela got what she deserved...she couldn't help herself with the rosettes. It seems all a matter of taste...when she is reined in by an assignment and a focal point other than her own, she does okay. Left to her own devices and she's a wreck.
But Vincent! He was a close second to disaster. That outfit was Retired CEO/Mall Walker in Boca Raton. Did anyone notice that the pants were exact knockoffs of the pants he was wearing the day of the challenge...the ones he took off to figure out how to make pants?

True but I think but there is a definite distinction between Cavalli and "I really love to make pageant dresses."
I think kayne makes some nice stuff but some of it crosses the line into costuming.

love love love Michael in sear sucker.
i totally turned to my Mom when Nina said Kayne looked like elvis and said "oh no, you clearly have not been to the jersey shore! any guido would totally wear that top if it was a little tighter to show off his muscles." didn't give me the elvis feel. gave me the blownout sonic the hedgehog hairdo guido feel.

First thoughts about last night (I know there will be more...consider this your warning)
Heidi's ass was hot in those jeans she had on for the opening of the show. Damn that woman!
Angela saying that Europe is so "foreign"...idiot! Good riddance to the Jubilee Jumbles, Granny Squares, Rosettes, Bubble skirts, crotch-ringed pant wearing ugly ass nonsense of the Farm Hick. Remember at the beginning of the season when she said her outfits got mistaken for Yves St Laurent...my ass!
My Goddamn Ass!
You could so buy Vincent's outfit at any department store - nothing exciting or different. He did a 'blah boring Robert' outfit. The sandals made it worse.
Jeffery can't seem to be anything else but a flaming asshole who feeds off his own venom. It's sick to watch. At least Santino was funny in his mouth diarrhea. I can't stand that he won. Maybe he'll pull a "Zulema" and be out next week...that is if God is drunk, stoned and tweaking.
Laura's dress was beautiful and (as always) so well made and she looked like wonderful. I would buy that dress. Her bump is getting bigger (and Leon's getting larger...)
Kayne...still making costumes instead of clothes. Poor Kayne.
Uli - DO SOMETHING ELSE!
Michael's was the BEST...that shirt rocked and the pants were cool. Ok - I did not like the choice of color. I would never wear white pants on a plane...that's just asking for trouble. When Angela left Michael had nothing but nice things to say - he is such a class act!

RATING the OUTFITS:
BEST:
Laura's dress was gorgeous, perfect 'travel' material and very comfy looking, and I thought that the color was lovely on her. She's my favorite.
Uli's dress was beautiful, she's SOOOO got an eye for coordinating colors and prints. I envy her for that. But I got what the judges were saying about her being a one-trick-pony. She needs to work on that.
MEH:
Vincent? Yawn. But still better (though that's not saying much) than many of the other outfits.
Angela's outfit. I was surprised by the judges loathing of it, because it looked to me exactly like most of the outfits that I see every single week in the "Celebrity Photos of the Week" articles. I didn't love it, and I wouldn't wear it, but it was 'Okay' and fairly non-offensive.
WORST:
Kayne's outfit was a train wreck. A glittery, shimmery, over-the-top, crazy ass train wreck. He really needs to be gone.
Jeffrey's outfit screamed "cliche of a rocker". Blech.
The crotch zipper was disgusting...but, then, Jeffrey's disgusting. So it was apropos that he's do something like that.
I actually hated Michael's pants...and the shirt was totally boring.
Hey, Michael, the 80s called and they want their pants back! They might as well have been made out of parachute material.
My favorite line of the night, though, belonged to Jeffrey...when he talked about what he'll do when the show ends (or he's auf'd) and Tim Gunn is no longer part of his life...popping in every now and then unexpectedly!
I love Tim.
Jeffrey's such a jerk. He was deliberately being creepy to Angela in reference to last week's challenge with her mom. But, y'know...if you're going to be a jerk, just be a jerk. Don't try to pretend otherwise and be all "I'm just talking about the challenge...you don't have to take it personally". Jerk.
I'm no big Angela fan, but I'd have really pref'd for Jeffrey to be voted off before her...if for no other reason so that we wouldn't have had to watch his smirking face when she was auf'd.

I know you all are holding your breath waiting for my take:
Laura: She has been my favorite from the beginning, and I thought her dress was spectacular, but the color washed her out on the runway under all those lights--loved her shoes!!
Uli: yep, have to agree on the redundancy of her prints, while I would like to see some of the others try to work with a print(Laura) uli needs to show she can work without them, although I really want one of her dresses. Things aren;t looking good if she can't come up with a different approach.
Vincent: yawn...he totally copied the pants he had on, but he was saved by picking good fabrics for travelling.
Jeffrey: Yes, he's an asshole, but there are a lot of asshole egomaniacal designers out there, he knows what is going on in fashion and always sticks to his asethetic- rock n roll glam, I guess---I thoguht his pants were odd, but he really worked the outfit and it was three pieces.
Angelas: what a nightmare. and her saying something about not travelling, this was a new experience for her...her mom's interview on BPR says that Angela spends her major birthdays in different countries(21, 25, 30)such as Paris, Amsterdam, etc...so I don't feel sorry for her one bit, she was booking a return flight with every stitch of the fleurchons on her ass.
Kayne, poor misguided Kayne. Whoever said the flares did him in- yes! what was he thinking? it was okay without the butterfly on his back...
Michael: I loved the top, the way it looked like a jacket, but was a button down, and the pants were interesting, but I am a sucker for seersucker. ha ha.
For anyone that has yet to find the mecca of all things runway here is the site:
http://www.bloggingprojectrunway.blogspot.com/
overall- this epsiode was so so to me, but i loved it when Tim popped up on the plane.
If they continue to use Paris judges then Jeffrey and Vincent should do well, that's how I'm thinking he may sneak into the final three or be the 4th that is supposed to mislead everyone.

Jeffrey is such a JERK! oh yes that was with all caps, the guy annoys the stuffin' out of me. I kind of liked the jacket but the pants...my eyes, my eyes. They were way to too tight, tight pants on a girl is ok but on a boy is just gross. And the crotch jewlery...uugghgh.
I loved the cut of Laura's dress and thought it was a pretty color just not for her. I can only hope that in person it looked better with her skin, because on tv it didn't look that good on her. Just because she is fair and a red head doesn't mean she can't wear colors that have some depth to them.
Michael well that boy is great. He is not only a class act (Like with Angela's departure) but also his clothes. Hip hop is not my taste but I do like what he designs. I can truly appreciate his clothes despite them not being my taste and that is my sign of a good designer.
Uli- I want to like her, but her style is not to my taste either. But I did like some of her earlier stuff, but it has gotten old. She unlike Michael hasn't changed her style. You can always tell a Michael garment but it isn't always the same thing.
I loved Kayne's outfit. It was completely over the top wild and crazy but so what? Has any one looked at some of the wild over the top 'celebrities and jet setters' wear? For an everyday outfit non way but a party, sure. I can see it in Vegas, Monte Carlo, Spain etc.
Angela--- later chick but really the rosettes? And the fact that she didn't even seem to consider the material. Who picks linen in any blend? She so asked for it.
Vincent- He was harmless, not good but not offensive either.

I too thought Jeffreys diamond studded crotch zipper was completely over-the-top. Obnoxious and attention seeking.
And yeah, when I saw Uli's dress, I thought, "didn't she make that last week? And the week before that? And the week before that...."
I think Michaels outfit was so cool- sharp and clean (on him, though- I wouldn't ever want my husband to wear that. He'd look ridiculous).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
Now I'm picturing my husband in these outfits...Jeffrey's :punk: , Michael's  , and Kayne's  ... Oh, hohohohoho! That's too funny!
BTW, in reference to the color of Laura's dress, I'm wondering if different TV's made it look different? On my TV it was a lovely peachy-pink shade, it wasn't completely colorless or toneless, and it actually picked up the peachy-pink hues of Laura's skin. It really looked pretty! I mean, sure, on some level this is subjective (we're not all going to like the same color or outfits), but it does sound as though some of this is affected by TV screens (etc).

I liked Michael's the best. It looked really well made and stylish. I never travel in white, though. I understand why Vincent would travel in something like he made, black and basic (and Micheal Kors was sitting there in a boring black outfit as he criticized it), but is a design competition, he still needs to bring a little more flair to it. I think his meds must be kicking in, he's been surprisingly rational and subdued the past couple of eps.
Jeffrey's outfit looked well made & I liked the jacket material, but it was cliched, like someone from central casting playing rock star. Not really cutting edge, a trite version of what people think is cutting edge. Like a frat boy getting a tribal tattoo to be edgy and hip.
Uli's dress didn't do much for me, but I'm not a huge fan of the peasant/bohemian look to begin with.
Angela was a disaster, but she looked good with her hair straight. I hope she gets the frequent flier miles.
Laura looks great pregnant; I see why she does it so much now.
At least when Kayne gets sent back to Oklahoma, he'll be ready for the gay rodeo.
My pick for the final three are
Michael-the best
Uli-amazing eye for pattern and color
Laura- I still find her stuff beautiful but boring, I'd like to see if she can mix it up for a full show.

Much like this, no? (http://jaspal.wordpress.com/files/2006/03/GreenDay.gif)If this guy had a neck tattoo and his pants were a little tighter, he’d look a LOT like Jeffrey.
And I didn't realize that they were already producing a Jeffrey doll... I was loving Angela's hair down instead of being pulled back so severely. Her dress really washed her out, but it was stunning.
Michael...looked very resort like with a little flair. I agree, couldn't see my husband wearing it, but his father yes.
Kayne, OMG, disco is calling and they want that shirt back pronto. Those pants, oh puh-leeze.
Vincent, what a snoozefest. That shirt was so poorly made. Did you see how it gaped open on either side of the neckline.
Uli, beautiful dress but let's go for something a little different.
Jeffrey knew that he was skating on thin ice and had to come up with something to totally please the judges. The jacket was great though I could have done with out the crotch zip...ewwwwwww
Angela and those damned fleurs on her butt. Looked like two bulleyes on her ass? How prophetic. Linen? She's crazy.

I get the 'resort' comparison a bit...to me, the outfit was bordering on retirement community...until you saw the details on the pants.
So...wow...how old is your father-in-law? I'm trying to picture an older gentleman wearing those pants with the bondage straps flying all over the place when he walks!
Anyway, I thought that the pants were very dated, and also very juvenile (not just 'hip hop').

Yes I meant Laura. When I lived in Houston, one of the parents' at my kids school looked like Laura, dressed like Laura but was named Angela which is driving me crazy. Seriously the woman wore either a black or tan high waisted skirt with a white blouse daily.
My FIL is retired and they travel a lot, especially to Europe and Mexico. He also wears a lot of resort-like clothing. He makes some really bad fashion decision choices which always make the grandkids laugh and embarrass his kids. A few years ago in Acapulco he showed up in a lace shirt that had us in tears from laughter. When we returned, I showed him a picture of my father from Acapulco from 1977 in the same shirt.

Gosh...clothes and pictures from 1977 should all be burned, stat.
I flip through those VERY quickly in my own photo albums! I had the Dorothy Hamill haircut, my dad had the bad polyester pants and long sideburns...my mom had the loud print dresses and over-sprayed hair, with grannie glasses (but not the cool ones like todays!). And the colors, my Lord. Home decor, fashion, it was all really awful! Brown and gold, pea green (they try to call it 'avocado' but it really wasn't), and orange. And none of them good shades or tones of those colors. [/shiver]

Ok I finally got to watch this. Kayne looked completely rediculous. How he thought he looked fabulous is beyond me. But I think Vincent's was worse. I mean, what was so trendy about a pair of pants and an ugle v-neck shirt? At least Kayne had some style to it, regardless of how tacky that style may have been. But regardless, Angela's crazy rosettes had to go. Finally.

I rocked the whole "black concert tee shirt under a flannel shirt with the sleeves rolled up" look. And then there was the groovy Nik-Nik shirts...high-style polyester with an animal print on one front panel. Paired up with some washed out jeans and some Earth shoes and I was kickin'!

I agree w/ a lot of the opinions everyone made about the various outfits. I agree w/ whomever said the final 3 might be Laura, Uli & Michael, those would have to be my picks as well, w/ Michael as winner. Uli makes beautiful dresses, but w/the same formula. Same w/ Laura----I liked her dress, thot it looked beautiful on her, but I'm not so sure I'd want to travel in something like that (on flights longer than 8 hours, I mean, such as New York to Paris.)
I cannot stand Jeffrey but I thot his outfit worked in this case---certainly wasn't the same old, same old like Vincent's & it was an attention-getting piece that a celebrity hopping off their jet & being photog'd by paparazzi mite wear. Same w/ Michael's---he's such a cool guy, 1st w/ Angela's dismissal & earlier when he was giving Kayne tips on how 2 walk on the runway.
Kayne's outfit wasn't such an outrageous idea, at least to my mind. I've seen crazier, uglier designs by some of those haute coteur (sp?) designers like Imitation of Christ, etc. The outfit seemed attention-getting, something worthy of a showy celebrity.
Vincent's, on the other hand, might've been comfortable & wearable, but it was also really boring---& some1 mentioned the gap around the neckline--i noticed that, 2!
Oh, Angela, Angela!! Any other time I would've been more than happy 4 her 2 go, but w/this episode coming so closely on the heels of last week's, I actually felt a li'l bad for her. She shouldn't have chosen linen, or stuck those stupid flowers on the butt (who wants 2 SIT on that crap for 8 hours!?!) but generally, the outfit seemed wearable, but for a different purpose, such as a day of shopping w/ friends. I forget what the guest designer said exactly about her outfit, & altho it was true & harsh, you could tell Angela was holding back tears & that's when I felt bad 4 her. Ouch. They really should've gotten rid of her a long, long time ago. I can't believe they made these people fly over, just 2 make the loser turn right back home, that sux!! At least let them stay a day, no? there's jetlag involved w/the flying & such, that must've been such a miserable feeling 2 get right back on a plane.
Anywys, looking forward to Paris episodes!

All I could think during the whole episode was that I would never wear any of those outfits on a flight. I wear the frumpiest most worn-in, comfortable clothes I own and kick my shoes off before takeoff.

I agree w/ whomever said the final 3 might be Laura, Uli & MichaelThat was me! But I'm probably not the only one who said it... and it was more "I hope that these are the final 3".
BTW, I don't think that any of us have mentioned here how flabby and fleshy Kayne's body was...him standing there in his bikini undies was a visual that I didn't need in my brain. Then I recalled that he used to be very heavy, so I guess he's in good shape compared to the shape he used to be in. It just surprised me, because I thought of him as being a more fit kinda guy. And his outfit (and the fabrics) really didn't help...it drew attention to his body 'issues' So did the flared pants...NOT a good choice.

It's funny...my husband can't stand Laura, he hates the skeletora dresses and tops that she wears. But I adore her! I get a kick out of her outfits, and out of how comfortable she seems with her body...she keeps wearing these tight fitting outfits and fabrics that show off her baby bump, then there was (I believe) a clip from next week's show where she's got a button-down shirt tied ABOVE her burgeoning belly! Love that! And I wouldn't say that about many other people wearing the same things, and yet she does it all with such class and style...and really seemed to fit herself right in with all of the other designers. It's really overall such a nice (seemingly) bunch of people compared to other seasons and reality shows. It's very refreshing :coolshades:
I can imagine hanging out with Uli, Laura, Michael, Kayne, Robert...and even Vincent (who seems like a NICE guy, albeit a nutty one) and Angela (who seems like a NICE person, albeit a kooky one). The one I'd want to run in the other direction from is Jeffrey. Blech.
And some of the others who've left seemed fun and sweet, too. Bradley (again with the nutty/kooky-but-nice description), Allison, and so forth.
I rarely think "Gee, I'd like to know that person!" when I'm watching reality shows.
Tim says on his podcast that she got to spend a day sightseeing then returned to the US--his podcasts are pretty funny- he really shows his contempt for Vincent- and how ridiculous he thinks Angela is.
thx for the info, Hardly! i must check those out--glad Angela got some sightseeing in (maybe she'll b able to observe that chic Parissiennes do NOT wear dumb lumpy flowers on their butts!) I luv the bit abt Vincent.

I've been watching the Top Chef marathon all day today and I keep seeing a promo for the next episode of Project Runway. It's cracking me up. Kayne is all dressed up as a stereotypical Frenchman (curly pencil mustache and all). As he's saying "Eh, oui, oui! Bonjour!" he throws his hands over his head like a little boy. It's the funniest thing and every time I see it, I laugh. :D
