Cuddling with my husband

Bubble baths
Lillies of the Valley
Puppies
Hiking in the woods
Shopping
Getting together with friends and laughing
A delicious meal (especially if it's one that I didn't have to cook!)
Chocolate
What makes you happy, happy, happy?

Nice comeback Obstinant - I wrote a long "what makes me happy" blog in my myspace - so instead of re-writing it - I am copy/pasting to show I am truly wordy and lazy all at the same time.
________________________________________
Here is the list of things that tickle me, amuse me, and generally make me smile .
- Driving down the road with the radio blaring on a good song.
- Sitting in the movie theater, the lights go dim and the feature presentation begins - it's a lovely feeling of anticipation.
- The weekend - and sleeping in.
- A nice long nap on my sofa in the daytime - it just feels deliciously decadent.
- The first bite of a slice of pizza - that first little triangle at the tip..mmmm..
- Friday - 5:00 p.m.
- The sound of a little kid in the midst of a fit of giggles.
- Baby coo's.
- Driving down I-4 and getting to the Magic Kingdom Entrance - goosebumps EVERY single time!
- Wiggling my toes in the warm sand.
- Fresh baked cookies - all melty and chewy.
- Watching a cat as it moves around doing all it's catty things.
- Oklahoma Sooner Football!
- The Olympics - the sense of excellence and seeing history happen.
- Shuttle and Rocket launches - amazing what we can accomplish.
- Writing - I might not be great at it - but I do enjoy it ever so much :)
- The brain candy that is Reality TV. I know it's silly and useless, but so much life is serious - it's nice to have something silly to enjoy.
- The smell of a new book, the crack of a new spine.
- Also...the smell of an old book and the wonder of who else cracked it's pages before you.
- Having someone stroke my hair. It's the loveliest sensation.
- Opening the mailbox and finding a letter or card - instead of the usual bills and junk.
- Hugs - I don't get them often but there is nothing like a good hug.
- The first day of the family vacation when we are all together and sharing photos and stories.
- A piping hot bubble bath.
Note: This list is subject to be added to as the whim strikes me.
Hugs from my beautiful daughter
My sister
Wine
Lindor truffles

MILLIONS of things make me happy. I don't think I can list them all...! I mean, something so simple as a sunny day makes me smile. Ok, I'll admit that is a bit nauseating, but what can I say? I'm just a happy person. :)

Hearing rain or a thunderstorm outside while I'm still cozy under the covers.
Cracking the thin layer of ice on top of puddles in the spring and fall.
Making a snowman
The sense of accomplishment of finishing a swim in the morning
Seeing my or a family-member's name in print (unless it's were in the "crime" section of the paper. don't think that would make me happy)
Being underwater and looking up at the sky on a sunny day
Seeing a shooting star or meteor
Buying a wicked pair of shoes on sale
Making someone I love/like/respect/lust after laugh
Kicking certain people's asses in Boggle, Scrabble, cards, whatever
That first sip of beer after a looooong week
When my favourite shows start up again (yay Lost and the Office)
When MYL or J-Unit respond to one of my crappy photoshop posts
When Coppygodd gave me props in a recap

What else makes me happy, happy, happy?
i heart you.
And...
Playing Poker...and WINNING!
Singing really loud to a great song
Having a clean, organized house
Dancing...particularly with my husband, fast or slow
My kick-ass collection of shoes and boots
Fishing
Baking zucchini bread that everyone raves about & rapidly consumes
Up at the top of the list:
Vacations with my family on a lake, where we roll out of bed and walk outside to the lake that's right outside...fish for awhile, then canoe or kayak, then take showers and eat whenever we feel like it. Relaxing in the hammock with a good book in between. Watching my husband relax, my kids have fun, and the dog swim.
And, best one of all:
Waking up and making love with my husband in the wee hours of the morning, then snuggling and falling back to sleep in each others arms

My 8-yo dd makes me very happy. She woke up this morning and gave me a hug and the first thing she said was, "I love you mama!"
Even better (and harder) is getting a laugh out of my 11-yo ds. Laughing with him is so much fun.
Laughing with my dh is up there too. So, I guess you could say that my family makes me happy, happy, happy! :)

When my cat looks up and concedes that I'm her whole world by chirping at me.
Diffusing tierce situations.
Leaving notes for my roommate/family/friends/boyfriend. Today's was a peace sign waving koala bear with 'Coco Koala-Bear for Peaceful Relations' above it. Both of my bosses got into a huge out and out yelling match this morning, and I wanted to leave something to lighten the mood for when they open together tomorrow.
Driving on back roads with nothing but the road, the land, and the sky to occupy myself.
Trapping my boyfriend in a Dutch Oven.
Picking up little gifts for people.
Winning makes me freaking ecstatic.
Itching the bottom of my foot after it's been crammed in a shoe all day long.
Wes Anderson movies.
Learning new things that I later apply.
Goofing off with my coworkers.

I must look especially good today, because TWO guys flirted with me this morning while I was on my way to work (one at the gas station where I stopped to fill up, and the other at the supermarket where I stopped to pick up bagels to bring to work)...I'm usually fairly oblivious to people looking at me (my husband will comment on it) because I'm just not paying attention or looking for it to happen. Hey, I'm a very happily married lady (and mom to two rapidly growing young men), I just don't go around looking for attention from other guys! But both of these men today actually tried to initiate conversations with me :p It made me feel kinda nice (and happy), to be honest! They were both handsome young businessmen, too :w00t:
Ahem...what else makes me happy, happy, happy?
Krispy Kreme donuts! Yum

Plan 9 from Outer Space or Monolith Monsters bad?
I'm really pissed because the fucking company that put out the Plan 9 DVD that I bought put their fucking logo in the bottom corner for the whole movie like a fucking tv station. I hate those fucking logos when I'm watching television, but except for my cable bills, that's free. But if I pay for a fucking DVD, don't put the fucking shit ass logo in the fucking corner!
And Japanese monster movies too. Gamera!

That really is great news, Tink! My mom has now had both of her eyes done, and the results are dramatic. I'm a big chicken, and can't even do contacts  Fortunately, my eyes are still very good so I only need glasses occasionally. The whole lead up to the procedure was worse than the procedure - because I am a world class worrier. It wasn't bad - from prep to clean up I was in and out of the surgery in 10 minutes. The actual laser part took 36 seconds on my left eye and 37 on my right. It was so not scary - and the result - damn I wish I'd done it sooner. However, the kind of surgery I had has only been around for a year. It's the newest version. :)
I strongly urge anyone that has glasses to check it out - it is THE best thing I have ever done for myself.

Not to get too personal Tink, but how bad were your eyes. I've been wearing glasses since I was 7, contacts the past 24 yrs. (I'm 48) I think about getting the surgery, but worry my eyesight may be too bad.:1eye:

I was legally blind. I started wearing glasses in 6th grade and have had them ever since. I also had an astigmatism. However, this new wave front technology does a computer scan of each eye and that data is programmed into the lasers. I now have 20/15 vision and I feel like I was on the receiving end of a miracle.

I have to ditto the miracle part - I don't wear glasses but hubby did (I don't know the lingo but he was the "I can't see where my glasses are" bad). He had PRK (fancier LASIK that the military does - longer recovery time but good enough for fighter pilots) and I can't even remember what life was like before that.
Now, I can playfully splash him with water and he doesn't get mad that I got his glasses wet :) And since we live in South Carolina he doesn't have to deal with his glasses steaming up, and he no longer drops them and steps on them during hikes (twice in three months!), saving us money. He would recommend it to ANYBODY who asks, if he weren't so busy playing World of Warcraft.

I'm still waiting for the long term results. How long before you need to go back because your eyesight is no longer awesome? I'm at the not-quite blind stage and I love contacts and don't mind wearing glasses, so I don't mind waiting for several more years to see more results from the surgeries.
Today, anything chocolate would make me happy, happy, happy! No PMSing, just in the mood for some chocolate...

Congrats Tink! These aren't the ones having the baby problems right. If they aren't you may need to take sometime to talk with your sister. After I had my miscarriage my husband's brother and his wife got PG and it really hurt. It was hard for both of us even though we were happy for them. I guess we just had some self pitty. Not that I wasn't happy for them but, it just hurt that I didn't have my baby.

Scoty, you've got a real theme going there in your HappyHappyHappy's!
Tink, I think that I've mentioned before that I've had two difficult (and in the 4th month both times) miscarriages and two successful yet difficult pregnancies/deliveries...during that time I was surrounded by people who were either having babies, having miscarriages, or trying (sometimes successfully & sometimes not) to have babies. There were times that people were insensitive, and other times that people were overly sensitive, but there were also times that I had to pull myself out of my own emotional dumps & at least project happiness for someone else (or sadness for someone else) even if I was sad/hurt/numb/angry. I didn't even know that my own sister was going through an infertility battle during much of this same time because she's a SUPER private person who'd decided to keep that between herself/her husband. I'm not imparting pearls of wisdom here, just sharing that I found it to be a hard juggle. And sometimes it's best not to tread too lightly around someone, or treat them too fragilely...but, everyone's different. Sorry, I'm rambling...I'll shut up now!
Okay, what makes me Happy, Happy, Happy?
This past weekend my husband and I talked & I was feeling down about the fact that I often feel life rushing past us, and the years passing so quickly, and realizing how many things we talk about taking the time to do & yet we don't. So this weekend we set aside house projects and took the kids to a local fair...we walked around and looked at all the displays, we went on some rides together, we shared fudge & fried dough, it was great! Then on the way home we went and hit some golf balls together at a driving range, and went home and made homemade pizza. The next day my husband and I took a couple of hours together alone and went fishing, then went home and put a pot roast dinner into the crock pot so that when we got home from football games there would be a nice, home-cooked meal waiting for us. I also called a bunch of people that I've been thinking of & hadn't spoken with in awhile. And I also confronted a relative about some things that had been bothering me & weighing on me...
All in all, a very satisfying and happy weekend! With no regrets!
What a good feeling.

Speaking of after hours bars, we used to go to the "White Eagle" when I was younger. My best friend always called it the "Blue Heron" or the "Red Cardinal", or even the "Green Parrot". She could never get it right for some reason, and it still cracks me up.

Nope, that's my sister Amy and her husband Chris. My Mom went to Oklahoma yesterday and is going to tell them in person. We are all very concerned about how she is going to take it. :(
After I had my son my insides were so torn up that I was told I would never have another child. I was heart-broken. My favorite uncle was adopted and when she found out his mom came to see me. This is what she told me,
"Some people are lucky enough to have an angel pick them for parents, but some people are so special that God trusts them enough to pick their angel themselves, and out there somewhere is an angel waiting for you to choose them. All children are angels and how we get them shouldn't make a difference, what makes the difference is that you get them." She is a smart lady. I had a miracle and I got to have my daughter, but whenever there is a child in need they only have to look as far as my house. Too many angels not enough parents. However your sister gets her angel, that angel will be blessed to get her.

THAT'S the bar I lost my earring in! I wasn't a member either, I just went drinking with one. I used to drink on the Southside all the time, although I was from Morningside. We used to start at Ye Old Birmingham, and end at the White Eagle. What a small world.
pearlblackdragon, what a beautiful sentiment. I'm sorry for what you went thru to get your angel. I was told that I couldn't have children, 3 months before my wedding day. My hubby is one of 9 kids, and loves children as I do. It was a hard thing to tell him, and I gave him an out if he wanted. But, as it turned out - HE was MY angel. We are married 22 yrs, and not a day goes by that I am not reminded how much of an angel he is to me. I have some health problems, so adoption was a little out of reach for us. There were too many days I had a hard time taking care of myself, I couldn't imagine having a child to take care of also. I am so blessed to have him in my life. I feel I have more blessings than problems.

Ok, so my 6 year old daughter and 13 year old son are playing video games right now. She is apparently beating him because I overheard her call him a loser. So I called to her and asked her why she would call her brother a loser. She said she didn't, I told her that I heard her. Again she says I didn't but then she says, "My head did." I asked her what her head did, she said,"My head did it. It told me to call him a loser so I did." And then she walked away as if she had just given a reasonable answer. OMG...kids are HILARIOUS!!!! They make me happy, happy, happy.

We put Ceramic tile in the laundry room and bathroom this last weekend, in two weeks we can seal it. We put laminate floor in the hallway and livingroom also this last weekend. Now all we have to do to these two rooms is put in the quarter round. My three bedrooms are getting new carpet put in on Tuesday, next week. I am up dating the trim in these three rooms before they put in the carpet. By next Wednesday I will have my huse back in order.
Now the wind is blowing so hard today we are going to have to put up a new fence. It was already about to fall down, but I bet it does fall down by the end of the night. Another day another dollar. Actually that fence is our neighbors problem, it is the one that is on his side. But we might have to help fix it because of our dogs (so they will stay in our yard) and his dog (so it will stay in his yard).

Talk about the wind, our house sits a little higher up and the wind just howls.

I know the house. Really needed an update. All the flooring was from 1985, when the house was built. Know all we need to replace is the master bath, kitchen, and entry way floors and we are set.

I thought I'd share my funny story of how a night of cancelled plans turned into a fun one:
I was SUPPOSED to see Wanda Sykes live comedy show this past Saturday, but we found out that she had cancelled it b/c she was sick. So my friend Becky and I decided to go see the comedian at the local comedy club b/c I saw him last year and he was funny. He's an improv guy from Pleasure island in ORLANDO (Tink!:) ) named Brian Bradley. Anyway- they sat us on the side of the stage, and we were the only girls up front w/out guy dates (and I had on a Steelers sweater) so the opening comics kept making jokes about the 'lesbian" couple. This carried on to the headliner, and when I told him i was from Pgh., he made a comment about how it was a big dyke town to which I replied "Oh- you mean as opposed to ORLANDO?". After that he liked me and asked me where I worked and I told him about bonobos and how they like to have sex so he ended up calling me up on stage at the end for his improv scene. I played a dead body (so I just had to lie there). My story was that I was killed by my dildo and the guy audience member he called up (also very funny) had to kiss me on the cheek and wake me up b/c I was just under a spell. At the end of it, the comedian lip-synched the "Time Of My Life" song to me to thank me, and when it was my turn, I played along and lip-synched it right back to him and we Dirty Danced on the stage. It was really fun and lots of people commented on what a good sport Becky and I were with all the lesbian jokes and such. We talked to the comedians afterwards and they were really nice too, and the bouncer told us to make sure and come back 'cuz they like people who can go with the flow like we did. So all in all- a really great time for very little money and my attention-whore personality was satisfied once again!:D :D

Zoobabe, it's sounds like a great time. I love when at a comedy show, the audience participates, it always turns out funny.
But, more important - WTF??? - I never heard that Pgh was a dyke town. Was he just saying that to get a reaction out of you, or has Pgh changed since I moved away? Angie, Campfiregirl - care to clarify.

I've haven't noticed an increase in the lesbian population, but I don't get out much anymore. In fact, even though I know lots of gay men, I don't know any gay women at all. Yeah, I definitely need to get out of the house and expand my horizons.

Zoobabe- Your story reminds me of a time PBD and I went to yuk yuk's. Emo Phillips was the headliner and I convinced her to sit in the front row. At the end of the show PBD gave a lone standing ovation (most of the audience had no idea who he was so they didn't appreciate him the way we did) and Emo came to our table, whipped up his shirt, and PBD tickled, yes tickled, his naked belly!!! One of the most memorable and favorite nights ever.

Hmm, sounds interesting. I haven't eaten much deer in my life (actually only once when I was really young). I'd be curious what a deer cheesesteak would taste like. My uncle hunts, and he's gotten a few deer, I wonder if he's ever prepared it that way. I do love me a good cheesesteak though.

I'm happy that my bf brought me a brand new monitor tonight! It's so big I had to raise my computer chair to see it at eye level!:DAll the better to see your VM recap on the Blog page...

It's the best (I am not a big fan of Deer meat) It has potatoes, mushrooms, Jalapenos and of course cheese. I will have to get the reciepe from the Hubby.
Congrats on the baby as well
