Hey, I could maybe go, depending on what time it was. It takes me at least an hour and half by train from CT. That's a pretty long trip for me for a weeknight but the last time I chose to sit out a happy hour, EdHill, OD-TV and Jenny10girl apparently had the time of their lives. I can't remember what I did instead of going, but it probably wasn't that much fun. Anyway, depending on date, time, place, etc., I'm in.

The TVgasm NYC happy hour will be tomorrow, Thursday 9/28, at 9pm at the White Horse Tavern (http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7117620/new_york_ny/white_horse_tavern.html) on the corner of 11th and Hudson. Yep folks, we're going classy.

For a map, go here (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=567+Hudson+St,+10014&ie=UTF8&z=16&ll=40.734673,-74.001095&spn=0.01356,0.038152&om=1). The closest subway stops are 14th St on the A/C/E and Christopher St on the 1/9.

And apologies for the late hour, but we'll try to show up before 9:00 if possible, and you're welcome to get there a little earlier if so inclined. I figure we'll try to head to the back room, but if it's nice out we might be able to snag some tables outside. See you there! Who knows, maybe The Pomp will show up and not eat.

Plus, I'm sick and I have to drive to MD tomorrow. Boo. So, that's my sob story. Well, maybe some other time. Have fun everyone. See you around the boards.

Guys, we're waiting for a re-cap on the NYC happy hour. The thread seems to have gone all Canadian hobo/Matthew Perry's hair on me.... (Zoobabe, I would NEVER insult Matthew Perry or his hair. He's definitely still on my Do Me list.)

Can we get some details, or was there just too much debauchery at this NYC affair and you are too embarrassed to share?

Hey peeps, ok I'll try to recap the Happy Hour as best as I can... seeing that I can't recall the names of the people who where there besides B-Side, m_ruv, Umnata and Michelle Collins who works at Best Week Ever. I did give nicknames to the other people who were there: Ellen Rocche Doppleganger, lady accompanied by dude with an (I think Irish) accent, Umnata's lady friends, and a woman who I'll call Vegas due to a story she told. Not so much nicknames as descriptions, but hey, I tried.

So I swagger into the dimly lit White Horse (because it's a pub just made for swaggery types like myself) at about 8:45 and nervously turn my head from side to side, looking for the table radiating with TVGasm aura (and maybe, just maybe, a Pomp-alicious presence). Thanks to the unpixellated pictures of B-Side, I spot the 'Gasm crew and introduce my 18 year old college self. Everyone was so nice (possibly due to the half empty mugs of beer/drink of choice in front of them) and we all do the "Hey, how are ya, where you from, why do you look 12?" introductory small talk. It turned out that I was the only reader there so it made for a nice, intimate schmooze fest. B-Side was his funny, witty, easy on the eyes self (as was m_ruv), Michelle was hilarious and great to talk to, and I couldn't really hear any of what Umnata (whom B-Side and m_ruv had never met until then) said. He did lament about how a lot of readers don't like his reviews though. Don't worry, Umnata, I, too, bask in the joy of making fun of crippled babies and Hobbit-like managers. The recappers also let me in on a secret: every time a scathing comment is left on a review, a TVGasm fairy dies (it's true, the only way to bring it back to life is to clap 3 times and give big ups to Brooklyn [or just some kudos, whatever]).

Random tidbits:
- B-Side, m_ruv and Ellen Rocche Doppleganger met at Dartmouth College
- J-Unit and B-Side do TVGasm full time
- Umnata ate a burger
- Paul F. Tompkins is quite the hottie (according to Michelle)
- A Juliette Binoche pool monster DOES NOT exist (www.tvgasm.com/archives/the_hills/002758.php). Yep, B-Side pulled a fast one on us. Damn, my mind is still blown from that revelation. What's next, finding out that TVGasm is really a funny, satirical site and NOT an online colosseum for intellectual masturbation? I'll rue that day when and IF it comes

Around 10, Michelle, m_ruv, Umnata and his posse departed. After hearing a rip roaring B-Sidian tale about a whore/streetwalker/trollop/lady of the night/call it what you must, I also left the shindig, though not without my Trekkie moment of gleefully holding up my "I <3 Laguna Beach" pin in a picture with B-Side. Although I wish J-Unit had been there so we could have braided each others hair and giggled with excitement about the upcoming season of Veronica Mars, the Happy Hour was of awesome proportions. Another one soon, ladies and gents?

P.S. I hope that didn't sound Ted Casablanca-y. Man do I hate reading his blind "please learn English before I shoot myself" vices. Oh, and at the Happy Hour, Umnata said he'd write an official recap so stay tuned for that maybe? Hopefully it wasn't said in drunken jest. Feel free to ask me any other questions about what happened. Cheers, y'all!

White Horse -- you did a fine job indeed of writing the recap.

Sadly, the late hour cut down on the numbers, but we still had a solid crew of about ten people or so, and the banter was out of control. I wish I remembered the whore/hooker story, but alas, I can't. White Horse -- was it the story about the hooker in Las Vegas?

White Horse was very brave showing up alone. She gets many kudos for braving the banter waters. Next time, it will be earlier!

Antics. Lot's of drunkeness. Complete lack of sleep. Yet I survived. Made it up to the city around 8 PM on Friday evening. Settled in at my best friend's (Bro 1) place in midtown and then headed downtown with him to meet another good friend (Bro 2) who lives in the village. Completely forgetting that I went to school with him and can see through his total line of BS, Bro 2 tried hard to impress by taking us around to all these hidden bars all the while insisting if I had dressed up more we could get into some swankier places. The dude is becoming one of those people who view New York south of 20th as the center of the universe. Pretentious fucker. Texted one of his lawyer buddies all night until I told him to have his boy meet us out so I could get him off the crack-berry. The guy turned out to be a total zoid. Couldn't even handle the tequilla shots I busted out to test his mettle. Evs. The group split up around 2 AM but Bro 1 and I weren't close to being done. Went back up to midtown for Irish bar shenanigans. Nice little joint two blocks from his pad with real Irish patrons and bartenders. Met a lot of cool people there. Started up a great convo with a women who was trying to make it as an actress. She looked a lot like Ellen Pompeo. We'd been talking about our significant others for a while when all of the sudden a guy sitting next to her asked if she was a prostitute. I totally went nutz... jumped off the barstool and grabbed the dude by his shirt and said "Door or window? It's up to you." The bartender that had been serving us all night, in a thick Irish accent came around the bar and said "Fooking bastard. Looky he's giving ya a chise". Always nice when the bartender backs up your play. The guy tried to apologize but the bartender was not letting him speak and the woman was busy laying into his buddy about being such a lout. With the idiots gone the bartender and the owner who'd been sitting at the end of bar promptly took care of our tab for the remainder of the morning until they finally sent us packing around 4:30 AM. Breakfast at the deli across the way helped soak up some booze and I finally rested my head around 6 AM. Got up around 10:30 because we were meeting some George Mason Alumni at ESPN Zone in Times Square at 11:30. Got there around 12:15 and had a Guiness to take the edge off. Not many alum's showed up so we rolled to Harmony for the second half of the ass-beating at the hands of Duke. Feeling great we found our way to Hell's Kitchen and made camp at Scruffy Duffy's for the next four hours where I proceeded to take on all challengers at darts and shit talking. True New York goodness was going on. At one point I walked into the bathroom and overheard a conversation about "those people playing darts" and said "what about us?" Turns out they were talking about how the one guy was the only person in the place taller than me, blah, blah... I invited to them to play and antics continued. More people kept coming up to us wanting to play various dart related drinking games and I was quite sauced by Saturday evening. Managed to get cleaned up again for a birthday party at the Red Salmon or something like that. Food was delicious and much needed. Red wine flowed like water. People started to talk about going home around 10 PM and the group split up again. We were also about to call it a night when I spied Jimmy's On the Corner. I had to go there. Classic dive bar owned by an old boxer (Jimmy) with boxing memorabilia covering the walls. After two beers I knew I was close to the edge. We left for the apartment where I claimed I was ready to hit the local Irish joint again as we watch the end of SNL. Kept nodding out and recluctanly decided at the urgings of Bro 1's wife that I'd lay down for a bit. Apparently the snoring started 15 seconds later. Drove back to Virginia yesterday and got back around 6. Had a nice home cooked meal courtesy of the in-laws and decided that an early bed time was desperately needed. And there you go. It was a fine weekend indeed!!

I was at a bar in Fairfax with a bunch of current Mason students during the game. Even though they lost it was a fun night. I didn't go to Mason (Mary Wash for me) but a lot of my friends did or do currently. I love all the fun dive bars in that area, a nice rest from the city sometimes. Good to see you had a fun weekend.
