With a line up that features some pretty high wattage (Sally Field, Patricia Wettig, Tom Skerrit, Calista Flockhart) you'd think this would be a slam dunk. I turned it off 38 minutes in. Did anyone else make it through this show?

Nope, I turned it off even sooner, about 10 mins. in. (After Calista and family were catching up in the kitchen). I used to watch and enjoy Ally McBeal, and Calista really personified that character so much that it's hard to accept her portraying someone else. I saw her on Leno last week and for some reason, she came off sounding like such a flake, kind of ditzy and spacy.

I started recording it on my DVR about 15 minutes in. Haven't watched it though....

I was actually relieved not to like it - with acreage on my DVR at a premium- a show really needs to impress me to lock up a coveted time slot.
I watched it all the way thru, and I agree with Tink - I need the dvr space. Won't watch again.

I am so glad to know that I do not have to worry about watching this show. With no DVR or Tivo, the amount of shows I watch is limited and I was trying how to fit this one in!

Well, I don't have a DVR so I'm used to watching shows in "real time" and since there's nothing else worth watching in this time slot, I'll give it another try. I just want to know what happened to the money.

I have the same predicament, so I will give this show another shot as long as I can stay awake.
But I was thinking to myself, how many plot contrivances can they put in one episode? An engagement, a death, mother-daughter conflict, and a veteran with a drug problem. Those were just the few that came immediately to mind.

... a troubled marriage, embezzlement, two possible affairs, a perfectly timed out-of-state job offer, and a mother who approves of her son's alternate life style. Wait, forget the last one.
There's something for everyone!

It was all right. there's nothing else in that time slot and easy enough to keep taping if Im' gone.
I didn't want the dad to die... that seemed so contrived: very convient he'd die when the chick
And I thought the two sons - Justin? and the other non-gay one (Was he Balthazar Getty?) looked too famliar (OK they're suposd to be brothers). But it was confusing - f I hadn't been constantly questioning the Balthazr thing I would have gotten them more confused. I was thinking twins but it was never said.
Aly McBeakl bugs, though, every time she'd talk about eating I'd laugh. That felt too forced, too.
Ally McWhatever said to her brother in the airport "you're too skinny"
Oh please, pot - kettle!

Does anyone know what's wrong with Paige? I missed the 10 seconds of the show that was actually interesting where the doctor explained what was going on.
Thanks!

Anybody still watching this show? I think I just witnessed the worst story line on this show yet. Tom Skerritt's character would have felt "compelled" to leave his family if he found out his mistress was pregnant? Seriously? A man would leave his wife and five children for his mistress and illegitimate child? 'Cause he's such a stand up guy? I'm really starting to hate this show.

She has diabetes. I still watch this show and really like it. I agree that I doubt Tom Skerret's character would leave his wife and children but i thought that maybe that was just in her veiw. If the daughter really believed it i don't thinkshe would have had the reaction that she did. Saying that she never wants to see her near their family again. I love Sally Field and Calista is actually growing on me. I'm sticking with it.

I love this show! It is a plot line that is pretty plausible to me, except for the ending last night. Everything wrapped up so well. There will be a problem somewhere, I'm sure! But I do look forward to watching it on Sunday nights. Me and the other 20 or so people who watch it, anyway...

I rather like it(NOT that first show) but as noted it is not like it has any competetion in it's time slot( to the person who has that job; all the networks should be offering you a job) As long a Sally is not maudlin and Callista is Not talking about..well, anything.
I also like it that they all resemble each other. It always annoys me to see a child that could not have possibly sprung from the loins of the people who supposedly contributed DNA to the project...let alone siblings that all look like everyone else but there own family...
It is improving..no Really. :santa:
