Thoughts?
Nice to see some Sayid action. But Sawyer was awesome tonight....
How long did Benry say he was on the island? His whole life?

It was sorta funny. I was actually sympathetic towards The Others... it's been two years so I forgot what they've done previously... but they were total pricks to Sawyer & Kate... so when Sun was pointing the gun at the chick, I was yelling at the screen "SHOOT THE BITCH! SHOOT THE BITCH!" I got a wee bit into the show. I do the same thing when watching 24. :o

I was really glad when Sun shot that Other chick! Ha! Yeah right, "we are not your enemy!" Why the hell do you have people locked up?
I think they want Jack because they need a Doctor and they are using Sawyer and Kate to get him.
So what do you think...Is Sun's baby Jin's or the other guy's? I don't think I would tell Jin. What's the point when you are trapped on an island together.
I can't wait to find out after that explosion! Why do we have to wait soo...long! UGH!

Juliet is reminding me too much of Meredith Grey. I think it must be the similarly-botoxed forehead.
The Red Sox clip was fan-tastic, especially since I was switching back and forth to the ALCS.
I loved this episode. I agree Firecat, Sawyer was awesome. I loved how he was looking at Kate's ass.
Glad Sun shot the Deadwood whore. I wonder what the others are going to do with the sailboat.
I can't believe Ben has been on the island his whole life. Dharma hasn't been there that long, have they? What was he doing before that, and who are his parents?
I think that Sun's baby is Jins. You know how things are weird on the island, with Locke walking, etc. Maybe it cured their infertility.
Spoiler Alert:
I found this photo of Locke, on the Lost website.

That looks more like Eko...
P.S. I love it that it's Sun of all people that finally is able to take down another Other... when was the last one? like.... Ethan?

Thought this episode was pretty slow. I love Sun & Jin, but their flashback episodes are always such a snore.
I think Sun's baby is not Jins. I don't think the island has curative powers. I think Locke's paralysis (they've never said how it happened to my knowledge) was psychological, and the trauma of the plane crash "cured" whatever block he was having.
So glad to see my girl Trixie from Deadwood on the show. It was strange seeing her completely dressed, and without all the cussing. I hope she survived the gunshot wound.

I liked the episode/ The big question is why these people choose to stay on the island if they can get off it, and why do they choose to keep the plane crash survivors there if they can get them off of it? Why make sawyer and Kate work like dogs to move rocks? Benry is definitely a good creepy guy. Do you think that they need new genes so they handpick people with the qualities they want to reproduce (by sperm donation or egg harvesting) to breed with their villagers?

I think they are the children of Dharma - and that they are infected with something that has to be contained on the island. I don't think they are allowed to leave the island which is why supplies (including the mysterious innoculations) are dropped in. Clearly the Dharma experiments are long since abandoned as evidenced by the rust and state of disrepair.
Of course it's just a theory - and my theories change with each new episode. Next week's looks AMAZING - the return of the beastie (shakes in anticipation)

I was disappointed with this ep. Kinda slow and boring. Can't wait until they are finished with the cliff-hangers so that we can get down to the meat of this season. There are things I wanna know, conspiracy theories that need to be hatched, and some hot men that need to get rid of their pesky shirts. Stupid continuance of the story.
Angie, that whore Trixie is over on ER too. She really does get around.

Trixie ( I have no idea what her real name is) could go do movies, act in serious theater, or start a singing career, and I will still think of her as Deadwood's top whore.

I liked this episode. I think sun and Jin have the most interesting backstory.
Did anyone else notice how apathetic Kate seemed this whole episode? Even when Juliet grabbed her and held her at gunpoint, she had this look on her face like, "Oh, whatever, it's not like she's actually going to shoot me, lol" I've noticed that whenever they show Kate, they stress how attractive she is to men and how they all want to jump her bones. It's like her character serves no other purpose. Will they just reveal that she's in cahoots with The Others already, and make her a good character again?! What makes it worse is that they killed off both Libby and Ana Lucia last season, so there's so few young female characters to relate to now.
And the Others are starting to get boring to me. They're just not mysterious and sinister anymore. They've become such a big part of the show and yet I still know very little about their motives. Before, you didn't see them as much... so it made it more interesting to see what they will do next.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I couldn't relate to Ana Lucia, that's for sure (or the late, great Shannon, either). Maybe Libby. But as for young female characters... they've introduced Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet, and Kiele Sanchez joins the cast in the next episode. It'll be interesting to see what kind of character she winds up playing.

Ana Lucia was unpopular, but she was actually my favorite character. She made everything so exciting, and I was looking forward to seeing the relationship between Hurly and Libby evolve. Maybe I just miss them. Those characters were free to do whatever they want. Kate has become so uninteresting... and Sawyer has too, as a result. He just stands there, oggling Kate. Sun is constantly being reprimanded by Jin. I haven't seen much of Claire, but I'm sure she's still lounging on the beach, being giggly and pregnant. I totally sound like a feminist right now! :P I shouldn't be complaining though. It's still the beginning of the season. Plenty of time for plots to develope, it just got annoying last episode.

What do you mean "Kate is uninteresting"? I find her fascinating. Like the time she turned her body slightly away from the camera but had her face towards the camera and she stared intently into the distance. Or the time she had her body facing the camera with one shoulder turned away just a little and she stared intently into the distance. Or the time she faced the camera and threw her hip to the side and stared intently into the distance. Or, OMG! what about the time she bent over and had her butt facing the camera and she stared intently into the distance!?! It's fascinating. She and Wentworth Miller should get together. They'd probably break up within a day or two, though, because they'd both think the other one was checking out other people all the time.
She's pretty to look at but her storyline is getting a little boring. Dear writers... get on with it, already!

Claire's not pregnant anymore. Sun is. I think that the young female Other who seems to be trying to help the Losties will play a bigger role. I wish they'd get Kate out of that stupid dress though and into something more comfortable/less sexy. I can see why they did it, but they've focused too much on her sexuality since then.
I'm excited for the return of Desmond this week!

Oh yeah. I've been watching alot of season 1 on DVD so I'm mixing 'em. Now she's just nursing the baby all the time. Watching season 1 again is also the reason why I'm comparing the earlier Kate to now. But you're right. She's too sexualized.

Am I the only one who got the impression Sun and the other guy didn't actually sleep together? I'd have to rewatch it, but something about that scene made me think she changed her mind before they did the nasty.

Really!?! I had the impression that she felt guilty AFTER the fact and thats why she didn't want to do it again.....nookie remorse. If they didn't sleep together why did she allow her father to think that they did? And why would he (other guy) tell her he loves her and wants to run away with her to America, where noone could find them? He was definitly having afterglow. What I do want to know is who pushed him out the window....daddy or Sun? And yes I do believe she could do it. That whole glass ballerina thing shed some new light on her big liar-liar-pants-on-fire no problem let the maid get fired personality.

^ Ditto I thought they had just finished doing the deed also. I think it is Jin's baby though. It has to do with the islands powers. I bet when the baby is born they will have some problems believing it is Jin's, but in the end they will figure it out somehow. Probably some DNA test laying around like PG test were.

Ok I watched the scene again, and here's what made me think they hadn't done it yet:
Jae: What's wrong?
Sun: What's wrong is I'm married
Jae: Right. That.
They kiss
Sun: Jae, I can't. I can't. I'm sorry...
Why would she say she can't if she already has? Seems like once you do it once there isn't much point in putting your foot down.
I think the reason she didn't correct her father is that the conversation would have to go something like this "Daddy, you have it all wrong, I didn't have sex, I was just naked in bed kissing him...totally different!" and in that culture I'm guessing the strict moral lines mean it doesn't really matter whether she did or didn't.
As for afterglow, it could just have easily been a case of blueballs. Rather than "Good sex, now run away with me" it could have been "Dear god, run away with me so we can finally have sex"
I think Sun pushed him...Sun would have known when Jin was gone and could have figured out where he was going...and wanted to correct her mistake by protecting her husband from her father when he didn't want to complete the job. And I'm sure she's picked up a few tricks from Daddy. That said, the recap said he had a rope around his neck...no matter how many times I replay it I don't see a rope...

Ok, so I went directly to the CBS Lost site and read the episode recap that they posted, because I really wanted to know if they nookied or not. This is what they said...... "Back in Seoul, Jin delivers his message to Jae Lee by savagely beating him.He can't bring himself to kill Jae Lee but warns him to leave the country and never come back.As Jin returns to his car, Jae Lee's body falls onto the hood. He's dead, and in his hand he holds the pearl necklace he bought for Sun.
At Jae Lee's funeral, Paik confronts Sun and tells her to go home to her husband.Sun asks if he'll tell Jin about the affair, but Paik tells her that it is not his place to tell."
They must have had sex or why call it an affair.

Did Jin know that Sun and Jae had an affair (or almost had one...)? He was so passionate when he was beating Jae, it seemed sort of odd.
And I thougt I saw a rope tied around Jae's neck, too.
zoobabe
10-21-2006, 07:38 PM
I did not see a rope and I also did not think that they actually had sex, but that she stopped him before they did. You can call it an affair if you're seeing someone outside of your marriage for romantic purposes, and I never figured that Sun could have pushed him but now reading all your theories makes me think again. I don't think that Jin knew about Sun and Jae Lee though, b/c if he did he WOULD have killed him.

I think they did it. I think she told him she can't meaning she can't do it again. It was wrong the first time. I would have to see it again to remember what all they said, but I think he said something to her that made her say what they were doing was wrong.

I agree, PJ, I think the same think you do.
I also don't remember seeing a rope, but I do remember seeing the necklace in his hand.
I'm also on the think they did it - bandwagon. I thought he wanted her to leave Jin, that's what she was saying "she can't" to. I don't remember a rope either, but do remember the pearls.

I don't remember the rope either just the necklace. I think that Sun's dad pushed her. I just don't think she did it.

There must have been something there that may look like a rope. Maybe his shirt was bunched up around his neck or something? Because I remember seeing a rope and wondering why would he try to hang himself and then leap off of a balcony...
