Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween.

These movies are the ones that scare me the most. What does it for you?

I'm not as cool as may1 to be able to post an image, so i'll just offer up the names of my 2 scariest movies: The Exorcist and Silence of the Lambs. (Special mention for 'The Shining').

I don't do so well with scary movies.
Poltergeist--first scary movie I ever watched, 4th grade---still scares the shit out of me
Children of the Corn: the original, when the kid is lying in the road and jumps up---whoo
Chucky- in 6th grade it scared me because I had a doll that sat in a rocking chair in our playroom that looked just like him, and I swear it would rock by itself

Never watched the exorcist--the slumber parties with the above mentioned were enough to do me in.

Tonight I am going to try the new version of the Omen. Anyone seen it?

What are your plans for today? This past Saturday I had a Halloween party for my roommates kid and his friends- lots of fun!

EEK! I hate the movie The Birds. Nightmares for weeks....

I love Halloween but can't stand spending the $$ on candy. I get between 100-
150 trick-or-treaters. I just want to yell "Get off my porch ya little rugrats!" Then of course my own kids come home and I inspect their candy.:o

Have a scary night:)

So he can clean up after himself? Because he couldn't hold the beer in him when he drinks it he is all bones.

LOVE scary movies!! Here's a few of my faves:

Scream-the original is the best, the first scene with Drew rocks
Frailty-very underrated IMHO, seriously, rent it!
The Others-you don't need gore for suspense
Identity-awesome, love the twists

I just saw the new version. I would stick with the old one, so much better. The Hills Have Eyes completly freaked me out. I watch a ton of horror movies. this week I watched Bella Lagosi in Dracula - hilarious, as well as House of Dracula. last night it was Amityville Horror - love it. I like the new version too.

Hitchcock movies are all very great. Although some of his later English ones weren't as great. The Birds is one of my all time favorites as well as Vertigo and Rear Window. Strangers On A Train ranks up there too.

I can't watch scary movies anymore, I'm not sure why that is. Blair Witch Project made me not sleep for a while--that was so creepy and I still have no idea what was going on most of the time. LOL

Tried to watch Stephen King's It the other night and it creeped me out again--Tim Curry is so SCARY as Pennyworth (or whatever the scary clown's name is), I had to turn it off. Although The Shining never scared me that much. The book was way more scarier than the movie.

There were scenes in the first Scream that were filmed a half block from my house! I'm not a big horror guy, but I liked Scream.

Both of those scared the beejeebers outta me. That clown doll was the first step in my total phobia of clowns. (I know, how common)

Hitchcock movies are all very great.

I minored in film with an emphasis on the films of Hitchcock, I came away with a great love for his movies and less for the man - what a mysogonist and talk about Mommy issues. Sheesh.

The Blair Witch Project scared me too. Especially the ending with the guy standing in the corner facing the wall. Totally freaked me out!

That movie is why I can never go in the woods. Again. Ever. :huh2:

I noticed those jumbo bags weren't jumbo in my book. I had 6 bags, which lasted just under 2 hours. Although I did save a few pieces for me. I noticed kids not dressed. One kid had on jeans and a t-shirt. I asked what he was, he said a gang member. WTF? I said, not on my porch you're not!!

We ran out also. But we only bought one Super Jumbo bag, because we live in a new neighborhood this year and didn't know what the out come would be. (last year in the same town we only had 3 trick-or-treaters and that's counting the collgege students that came by for can food) So when we ran out at 6:59 I went to the store and bought three more small bags of candy and we ran out of that also. Well we had one left over that my Hubby saved for himself. It was a busy night.

Cute new baby pic. I was starting to wonder if he had grown any. LOL He is probably growing like a weed.

We had over a 100. At first I gave two or three pieces of candy out and then I knew we were going to run out so I started giving out one. Then when we ran out so early and I still wanted to Keep my pumpkins out also so I bought more. The next time I only gave out one piece at a time. The only problem I had was that we had several repete trick-or-treaters. I know because I knew most of the kids from subbing in the local schools so I knew most of the repetes by their face. (they either had on make-up or no mask.) So who knows how many came back with a mask on. The repeters were smart though they would come back in a larger group of new people and then mix in with them. SO I couldn't say you have already been here three times save some candy from the others. (not that I would have said that) I think why they would repete at our house was because of the decroations and also we live right in front of a street that circles back around to our street. So the kids probably started at our house then crossed the street and went around that street. Then when they got back to our house they couldn't remember if the had hit our house or not. We had lots of fun.

I'm totally irritated - I don't care for Halloween, as a rule, I'm not into anything creepy or bloody or scary, which pretty much rules everything out. But THIS year, I was all excited, because Toddler Pek is big enough to get all dressed up and help scoop out pumpkin guts - and I found this ADORABLE Yoda costume I was gonna get him. Only come to find out my mother bought him a duck outfit. A duck. He was gonna be Yoda! Not like he was gonna go trick-or-treating or anything, but still.

TinkerbellAPixie

You could always save the duck for Easter and do Yoda this year. Or the duck could be for play time - make that whole "Duck, Duck, Goose" thing more fun.

LoL Pek! You just reminded me of the time my sister sent hubby out to get a ninja costume for their son and he came back with Jar Jar Binx! I thought my sister was literally going to kill him!

I need an idea for a Halloween costume. I wanted to go as one of the Flight of the Conchords, but I don't think I look alike them enough (Bret would be easy, just buy a t-shirt with a giant lion's face on it). I don't think I'm dressing up this year - except as adult supervision for my trick-or-treating rugrats.

Last year, I dressed up as Hagar The Horrible. I need to find the pic of that, and post it in the "Slutfest" thread. The year before that, I lived in Tallahassee - and dressed as a referee from the ACC (complete with striped shirt, black pants, hat, whistle, dark sunglasses, white cane w/ red tip, and my dog - who was dressed up as a seeing-eye dog).

Once I went as the road, I wore a black t-shirt and black pants and used hockey stick tape to make a solid and a dotted line. I printed up road signs on label paper and stuck those all over me. I had a one way sign on my butt, dangerous curves ahead near my chest and a caution, men at work sign near my lady parts.

I added litter and took an old beanie baby and pulled out the stuffing, painted it with red nailpolish and made the eyes into x's for road kill. I took the tires off my nephews tonka truck for bracelets and had stop sign earrings.

I came in 2nd for a halloween contest.

My sister used to always be dressed from the headlines:

1 year she had on a citadel track suit with the word drop out stamped on it - she was Shannon Faulkner (not sure if you younger folks remember her).

Another year she wore a zipped up hoodie with a mustache and sunglasses and carried a package - she was the unabomber.

The year the Starr Report was issued she blew up the front and back pages and had them laminated, wore those sandwich board style and handed out candy cigars.

With that in mind - you could have two stuffed dogs attacking each other, wear a football jersey and be Michael Vick.

Put on a blonde curly wig and bloody your mouth and be Johnnie Fairplay.

Wear a bad combover, a suit and tie and walk around bad mouthing Rosie.

Ok - I gotta ponder this a bit - more later.

Don't dress up at all - when people ask you what you are - tell them you are a Serial Killer, they look like everyone else.

Amazon is very all inclusive like Ebay - but it's not auctions, it's just stuff you can buy. Then again - Ebay also has the buy it now feature so that's very amazon-like.

Oh and Tom - you could buy a Survivor buff, wear a bathing suit, dirty yourself up and walk around stabbing people in the back.

Ok at first i was like, "Hates HIMYM? Thats crazy!" but then i was "Did they just make an over the top reference, and YOU TOTALLY REDEEMED YOURSELF"

Just remember he wore the hat facing forward, then when he turned it around, it was like he was becoming a different person, or words to that effect, i havent seen it in quite awhile:)

Glad I could redeem myself. I also have not seen Over the Top in years, but I remember Sly turning the hat around whenever it was time to get down to business. And by business I mean arm-wrestling for custody of his child.

Ugh. I hate How I Met Your Mother. Although that would be a good costume if I did like it. I agree that not many people would get the reference though. I was also thinking about going as GOB Bluth, but again, I think it would be pretty obscure and unrecognizable. I do have a denim jacket from my costume last year that I can always use if necessary.

If you go as GOB Bluth, you must carry around a boombox that plays "The Final Countdown" over and over again. That would be so awesome.

My neice is going as a little 50's girl, with a poodle skirt and black top, with keds made into saddle shoes with felt.

Amityville Horror 1

Treadingonme

Are we talking the original Omen, or the remake? The remake was bad, except for when Julia Stiles was getting killed. Then it was enjoyable.

The Descent is the best horror movie I've seen in a long time. I also enjoy the Grudge. I would also say that Norbit is one of the scariest movies ever, and not because it was actually scary, but it's terrifying that it was made and people actually watched it.

Also saw 30 days of Night this weekend. Do yourself a favor: avoid it.

Would that be Oscar the Grouch?:D
However, looking at the kid in the bat costume. It's very cute but I assumed that the kid wasn't really hanging upside down. They just rotated the picture. Atleast that's what I'm hoping.

And the original Omen scared the living crap out of me. Haven't seen the remakes. I'm a remake snob.

Halloween isn't just one day. For example, last weekend some peeps I know had a costume party. Tomorrow night I'm dressing up for Disney World, then there's parties downtown on Saturday (I'm not going, just saying there are parties). Then Sunday you watch scary movies at home, maybe go on a hayride. That leads up to Halloween.

I have collected the ornaments for years but a good place to look for them, believe it or not, is Christmas stores. Christopher Radko makes some, and Old World Christmas, and a newer company called Glitterville that has really cool stuff and is bringing back older designs, too. The tree itself is by Department 56 and I bought it three years ago now but I can't remember where.
