Giving full credit to Roob for giving me the idea for this thread.
Unlike B-Side or J-Unit who live in Hollywood, the rest of us live all over America. Any movies ever filmed in your neck of the woods? I'll start.
JackKnife with Boobby DeNiro. Filmed in an around CT but one scene in a diner was filmed less than a mile from the house I grew up at in Wethersfield.
Umm, any establishing shot from Judging Amy. thats about it. Although Judging Amy was always fun to watch because they would film scenes in "hartford" that looked nothing like it. Or they would mention places and streets that I knew which amused me. FOr instance, in one episode Tyne Daly called the police because a daughter was abusing her grandmother in an apartment, shackling to her bed and letting her slowly die of malnutricion. The address she gave the cops for the apartment was like a block from my apartment! Yeah for me!

Apparently mid-grade baseball movies like Wisconsin, Major League & Mr. Baseball. I guess there's some live thing on G4 tonight for Halloween too.
in my case, it's been TV shows, not films. Third Watch (remember that show?) filmed two episodes on my crappy, desolate little block in Queens, NY, a few yrs ago. It was pretty cool to literally look out my apartment window & watch them shoot & see all the actors & extras. They built a bus stop (which they later took down) & renovated an empty store on the corner for an episode in which there was a shootout in the store. Also, the other episode starred 'Method Man' & my sister and her friends got his autograph & foto.
The studios where Sex and the City was shot (Silvercup) is not too far away from where I used to live, so occassionally I would recognize a street/background while watching the show. The Sopranos also films there so my sister who still lives there recently saw AJ in front of the building.

I guess it doesn't count that when I first moved to LA, I lived 5 houses down from Paramount Studios and I'm currently living a couple blocks from Sony Studios. :p

There've been a few things. Of course anything with an overhead shot of DC. But I also love when they have scenes obviously not shot in DC and the background is just not right. There was a show on CBS I think, and the name has completely escaped me, but it was a cop show and the cars they drove were NOT DC cop cars at all.
Remember the Titans took place around where I grew up, actually, the Friday the movie came out my high school football team played TC Williams, the school in the movie. Yeah, we kicked their ass.
They've shot lots of scenes around the city, but not a lot in Northern Virginia that I know of.

When I was in college they shot a movie at my school. I can't remember the name of it though. It had Emlio in it. He had just come back from Vietnam. It was flimed like in 1994-1995 and then came out about a year or so later.
Also when I was in College they filmed that move were John Travolta has the specail powers in. The bar they used was not to far from my town and we use to go in there.
They filmed some of 8 seconds near my new home town, but that was way before my time here.
Don't ask me why I can't remember the first two movies names, but I can the last one.

Snow Day (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0184907/) with Chevy Chase.
And if you include my province, Brokeback Mountain, which is ironic if you know anything about the political atmosphere in Alberta.

I'm jealous, I LOVE Third Watch, especially before it got real crappy in the last season. I miss Bosco-wonder what Jason Wiles is up to?
This area is kind of a hotbed for filming, especially in wine country (A Walk in the Clouds, for example). The Birds was filmed on the coast, about a half hour from here. Peggy Sue Got Married was filmed in my town (the front shot of the high school is where my kids will presumably go in a few years) and also a little south of here, and Inventing the Abbotts was filmed down the road a bit. And Scream, of course.
Also, I remember when I was working in Calistoga, they were filming a Ted Danson stinker over there called Mumford.
And just about every car commercial you see with a long and winding road and the coast in the background is filmed somewhere in the Bay Area.

I don't know about any movies shot where I live, but I have a friend who used to get to be an extra in a lot of movies and tv shows shot in Chicago. She was on Early Edition a couple of times. One time, she was supposed to be standing outside somewhere talking to her friend while Kyle Chandler walks by. She's very animated when she talks and just at the time he was passing her, she shifted her hip and stuck out her foot a little... and tripped him! He was polite about it, but she didn't make it in that scene when they reshot it.

I can't remember what show I saw him on, just recently, but his hair was long and crazy curly!! My mouth dropped open and I shook my head asking "what did they do to Bosco?". He looked horrible and I loved him too.
I don't know if anyone knows the movie Night Breed but it is one of my favorite scary type of movies. And I was filmed in Alberta also.

I used to live in the NW burbs of Chicago - I worked not far from the house they used in Risky Business/Home Alone, I took the train into Union Station every day for work - Union Station is where Harrison Ford was in Witness, it also featured prominently in the end of My Best Friend's Wedding and the steps are famous for the baby carriage scene in the Untouchables.
My friends and I tried to be extras in the wedding scene from My Best Friend's Wedding - they wanted people to show up in pastel formal wear so we all had on our prom dresses. After three days we had to get back to our jobs so none of us made it on screen.

A couple months ago Matthew McConaughey and Matthew Fox wrapped up filming for "We are Marshall" just up the river from me. That's gonna be a good movie. Sad story. McConaughey partied at some clubs and was an overall nice guy. He has been back a couple more times already to promote the movie and I think they are all going to be here for the premiere in December.
"The Mothman Prophecies" story was filmed here, too.

The Guardian (the recent Coast Guard movie with Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner) has background scenes filmed in my hometown of Kodiak....but most of it was filmed in North Carolina. I haven't seen it yet so I haven't had the chance to pick apart what they got wrong.
I'm sure there are lots of movies with parts of Alaska in them, but most movies about Alaska are filmed in Vancouver.

I've been just waiting for this thread:
My claim to fame at a point was I got to be a paid extra for "Wonderboys" that was filmed in a town next to mine(Rochester PA)and I got a full weeks pay for driving my old SUV and standing arround. Plus I threw papers extra high and helped clean them up (50 bucks). I played pool next to Michael Douglas and have a picture with Robert Downey Jr. Even saw Tobey and Katie on set. I have pictures to prove it. It was so much fun!!!!!

The Kansas City BBQ is downtown near the old SDPD station. The house that the girlfriend lived in is in Oceanside. And of course Miramar is where the real Top Gun school used to be.
But i still hate Tom Cruise.

I live on Oahu and used to live about 10 miles from where they film Lost. A very good friend of mine worked at a school where they filmed on the beach. She used to give me blow-by-blow of who was there and what-not.
However, I hail from Chicago and lived 3 blocks from the Real World house. Also filmed quite a bit of The Untouchables right where I lived. Moved to the north side and they filmed a Nicholas Cage movie (Weatherman?) on my block. But the coolest was when I lived in the Loop and right next door to the building where they filmed The Negotiator. It was like we were under siege! ER filmed a lot in that neighborhood too.

Uh...hello!?! Edmontonians.... How can you so quickly forget our recent Brangelina invasion. We even had tabloid reporters....remember!! Brad was here filming The Assassination of Jesse James at Fort Edmonton Park. Its supposed to be released next year.
Where I currently live in Maryland, it's a small city that not much happens in. Near by the movie Blair Witch Project was filmed.
I grew up in Pgh, and lived there until 1990. There were and still are alot of movies filmed in Pgh.
Roob, I vacationed in San Fran. this past February. My first time there, and I absolutely fell in love with the place. We went to Sonoma wineries also. What a beautiful place in this country. I'd been to Southern CA many times, but that was my first trip to SF. I love CA.:p

When I lived in Charlottesville, they filmed Morgan Stewart's Coming Home (or whatever that lame Jon Cryer movie was) there.
Recently, they did the sequel to Bruce Almighty or Evan Almighty (whichever the movie was) downtown here and also right near my inlaws who gave us daily updates on the ark they built and all the fake houses, etc. Yawn...
They filmed parts of Hannibal in downtown Staunton and the big alien invasion scenes of War of the Worlds was filmed north of us in a cornfield near Harrisonburg.
Monday, they were filming another movie in downtown Staunton, but I have no clue what it was.

filmed in my hometown of Kodiak.....
where is kodiak-- I am also from SC and don't know where that is...
nevermind that idiot question--just realized you meant alaska...
In the Beaufort area of SC they filmed the Patriot
Waterboy was filmed at the stadium in Columbia
Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman are in town now (Florence) filming a movie, some friends of mine saw her out at a country bar last weekend...its suppossed to be a thriller....
Forrest Gump was filled in Beaufort also- parts of it..
My town is pretty quintessentially New England so it has been used from time to time as the setting for things. Commercials, mostly. The one movie that was actually filmed in my town is Mr. Deeds with Adam Sandler and Winona Ryder. It's a truly terrible movie, even by Adam Sandler standards. Really. It sucks. But, if you have seen it, my town is the stand in for Mandrake Falls, New Hampshire. Actually, the street the filmed on is one of our main streets. It's actually where I work. You can see my office in some of the shots as well as our movie theatre, our restaurants, our H&R Block, our health food store, etc.
Also some scenes for the movie Sleepers were filmed near where I live. I think that's it...
Oh yeah, supposedly, the opening shot in Beetlejuice is an aerial shot of this quaint neighboring town. It's got the covered bridge, the quaint village center, etc.
Yeah, so that's it, I think.

Thanks! It really is a beautiful place to live.
Of course, I could put a miles long list in this thread if I included all of the movies filmed in SF, but I can't claim The City (it's about an hour away). I do have one good story, though...
I had a buddy who used to fly as a traffic reporter between Wine Country and SF during the afternoon commute. He generally flipped the plane around and headed back north right over SF Bay. He took me and another friend up one day, and it turned out to be the day that Alcatraz was premiering, on Alcatraz Island! We were a little early to catch most of the action, but it was interesting to see The Rock crawling with bodies, and the lights set up, and all that jazz.

The only one I can think of is the TV movie "Mind Over Murder" (yeah, I'd never heard of it either). Its claim to fame is that it's where Tori Spelling met her husband. I actually saw them walking around the Market (the restaurant and bar hub of boring ol' Ottawa) this summer -- I guess they were visiting.
I was on a first date and when I saw them I frantically whispered "OMG, Tori Spelling!" (she passed like three feet from where I was sitting) my date gave me a blank look. I knew then and there that there would be no second date.

Well, I live in Hollywood North (Vancouver), so it's like LA. They've filmed a bunch of movies here: Freddy Vs. Jason, John Tucker Must Die (which was filmed in the close-ish to wear I live in the suburbs), Agent Cody Banks 1, X-Men 2+3
That's all I can think of at the top of my head. There are plenty more...Yea, all those movies were pretty bad, except X-Men.
There are a bunch of TV shows filmed here too: Smallville, Supernatural, they filmed Dark Angel back in the day, and to go old school The X-Files
Funny thing is that I have NEVER seen a celebrity. It's because I live in the suburbs and so I'm never downtown where the cool kids hang out. Which is sad because I would LOVE to meet Jensen Ackles *sigh* he is SUCH a babe...

I like watching movies set in DC/Virginia (of course there are alot) because I can point out all the weird inaccuracies. Like how in most of them characters will travel from Baltimore to DC as if it only takes 5 minutes. And whenever there's a subway scene, it's always set in a New York subway station.

Yes! Case in point is the movie with Will Smith and Gene Hackman - Enemy of the State. They fuggin' make Baltimore seem like a neighborhood of DC.
I grew up in Santa Cruz. When I was a freshman in high school I got my first job at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. I had only been working there for a month when they started filming the Lost Boys. Totally awesome. Got to meet "the Corey's" and developed a major crush on Jami Gertz. The opening scene when "People Are Strange" by Echo and the Bunnymen is playing represents Santa Cruz well for it freakishness at the time.

I remember that. I also remember in Wedding Crashers they were sitting on the stairs of the Lincoln Memorial in the morning and the whole area was EMPTY. My friends and I were like "when the hell is the mall completely empty?" Another movie, I can't remember made Langley, where the CIA is seem like it was in DC. I'm sure it happens with a lot of cities but I know DC metro area the best so I always pick up on inaccuracies.

That scene was filmed in the winter time soon after sun rise. They were freezing their asses off because it was supposed to look like it was summertime. Tons of movies make Langley appear as part of DC - The Recruit, Spy Game and others.
On another note, a bunch of my fraternity brothers rolled up to Camden Yards one year to be extras in Major League II. The park was supposed to be the ballpark in Cleveland. Middle of winter, cold as shit, a bunch of hung-over brothers trying to act excited over non-existent plays on the field. The hilarious thing is that the ratio of card board cut-outs to real people was something like 15 to 1. We had to do so many takes and we were all thoroughly frozen when it was all done. At least they had an endless supply of hot chocolate to keep us going. We each got 75 bucks for our troubles, which added up to about $1,500 total. Enough to fund a huge rager the next week.

Omg! There are so many inaccuracies in that movie that I like making a game out of pointing them out when I watch. All the street names and city names are slightly wrong or are in the wrong state. They'll mention a street name that ends in "avenue", but they'll end it with "lane" or something. Or they'll say this street is in DC, when it's really in VA. So weird.
In Wedding Crashers, me and a friend were trying to figure out how in the world you could take a ferry from MD to DC. I didn't even know there was a ferry. There might be, but I've never used it or heard of it. And if I were in the rich part of MD, I would travel back to DC by land way before I decide to take a long ride by river.

So true. Yeah, I can't think of a ferry to anywhere in MD. There are some to the Eastern Shore, but that's VA. Unless they were on some obscure island somewhere.
The ferry that is mentioned in the movie goes from St. Michaels back to the "mainland". It's there. I never interpreted it as them taking a ferry from Maryland to DC. But then again, I'm a motor-boatin' son of a bitch...:D

Ohhh, that's good to know. I didn't even realise there was one on the eastern shore.

Well, recently we've had (of course) 8 Mile filmed here, and the Island and the Transformers movie just finished shooting outside of the abandoned Michigan Central Depot. Four Brothers was set here but I don't think much of the film was actually shot here. Any films set in Detroit are usually filmed in Toronto. And parts of the Evil Dead trilogy were filmed in suburban Detroit since Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are from here.
The cool thing is that my boyfriend's old jeep is in both 8 Mile and the music video for Lose Yourself. They have a rolling shot down Michigan Avenue at the beginning of the video and his car was parked outside a bar on the right hand side. It's so obvious because that jeep had like a zillion bumper stickers on it.

Weirdly, we've had quite a few movies shot here. I was a kid when Mighty Ducks came out and I actually went to the ice arena where they were shooting as an extra. Emilio Estevez is tiny.
Joe Somebody was filmed right by my house, and "Claire Bear" from Heroes was in that movie. But she was just little. Horrible movie though...
And of course, Grumpy Old Men. It's a classic around here.
Oh, and Untamed Heart with Marisa Tomei and Christian Slater.

Logan's Run was filmed in Dallas and Fort Worth. Lots of us were extras over in Dallas. We were all asked to be extras in the parts they filmed in Fort Worth, but rumor had it we were supposed to all be bald so none of us showed up. One night we were heading back from a Texas Rangers game and it looked like half of downtown Fort Worth was on fire. There was all this red smoke coming from the Water Gardens. Imagine our shock when we see the final scene in the movie and NOBODY was bald. Grrrrr. I think I got 54.00 for my part. LOLOLOLOL
Currently filming in Rochester: The Alphabet Killer
A film based on 3 murders in the 70's - all young girls, each had the same first and last initials. Each body was dumped in a town whose first letter matched the girls initials. Still creepy 30+ years later. No one was ever caught.
Stars Michael Ironside, Eliza Dushku.

2007 The Kingdom
The Universal film currently being shot stars Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Garner and set for release this year. The crew has already filmed scenes Arizona State University Polytechnic Campus and on the Loop 202 in Mesa. The road was made to look like a road in the Middle East, this was a brand new section of a freeway that had yet to be opened to the public.
In the movie, a team of U.S. government agents is sent to investigate the bombing of an American facility in the Middle East.
A few others, maybe not entirely filmed in Arizona, some had major filming here…
1953 The War of the Worlds (the original)
1963 The Nutty Professor (again the original)
1973 Electra Glide in Blue (the original Electra…just kidding)
1976 A Star Is Born
1980 Stir Crazy and Used Cars
1985 Murphy's Romance
1987 Campus Man and Raising Arizona
1988 Midnight Run
1989 Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
1990 Fire Birds
1992 Wayne's World
1995 Waiting to Exhale
1996 Jerry Maguire
1999 Three Kings

I did an extra "walk through" on a movie a bazillion years ago too JulieM. It was entertaining, but a long 10 hour day for a walk through that was on screen for possibly 5 seconds! I can't even remember the name of the movie...American something with Don Johnson.
Thank goodness for Google...The American Girls 1978! Ok...it was important to me to find.

I saw the preview for this in the theaters, it looks really cool. That's awesome that they turned AZ into the Middle East, though it makes sense. The movie looks pretty intense, the Middle Easterners (I wish I remember what country it was) feel as though the Americans are infringing on them, coming in to investigate in their country. At least thats the idea I got from it. I'll keep my eye out for when it comes out.

The hotel scene in "Thelma and Louise" was filmed at a small road-side hotel in Gorman, CA when I lived in that area. And oh yeah, my city was apparently blown up (and the scenes were filmed there) in the closing minutes of the 2nd part of the 2007 season premier of "24"--thanks Kiefer, for not getting there in time to save us

Go to the site and copy the address from the address bar. Then when you start a new post here, just click the little world icon (under the smiley face) and paste the address in the box that opens up. Hope this helps!!

They are filming National Treasure II here. Everyone is stirred up because they want to shoot on Easter near this huge church with about 6,000 parishioners and close all the streets. No one will be able to park. So I think they have now agreed to film later in the day, after church is over.

I heard about this on the radio. Nuts. They're filming at the Masonic Temple too (the fallic looking building that looms over Alexandria). If I had nothing to do with my life I might try to find Nicolas Cage, but I'm watching my friend's cats so I have more important things to do. If he decides to have lunch at Baja Fresh near Tyson's today maybe I'll see him.

I live about an hour from LA. Lets See, Sideways. When they go in the beginning to visit his mom. The freeway sign is in Oxnard, CA about 5 min. from me. A lot of scenes from Curb your enthusiasm. Ive seen the actual house they filmed 90210 in (brenda and brandon's house) in pasadena area. I have too run across the the clown licquor store from clueless. All the new car commercials like when the lockness monster eats that car, is filmed in Ojai, as are the lake scenes from What About Bob. Omg i almost forgot Little Miss Sunshine. The Redondo hotel is actuallyhe Crown Plaza Hotel in Ventura, CA. And that road really is as confusing it looks.

Turner & Hooch filmed in little tiny town of Pacific Grove, CA (right next to Monterey, home of the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium). I even have a script from it somewhere in my parents' house. I watched it on TNT a couple weeks ago, and I'm like, "oh! there's my bank!" I'm such a small-town dork.

Bridges of Madison County. Many moons ago. Never saw it though. It was a huge deal at the time, but the bridges there are really beautiful covered bridges actually I should be speaking in past tense because someone burnt them down. Damn firebugs.
My friend just filmed a B Zombie flick here, it's called "The Waiting" I was pregnant during filming and she wanted me to come in as an extra to be a "pregnant zombie" but I ruined that and went into labor. She also suggested me to be in a music video her friends were shooting as a pregnant ass shaker (I would have been barefoot in the kitchen in some booty shorts) now that I think back she really tried to exploit my pregnancy.

This siting was in Berwyn (featuring that ugly piece of "art" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spindle_(sculpture)) that everyone hates but nobody wants to see gone). It'll be interesting to see if it shows up in the movie; especially because it'll probably be torn down in the next month or so.
