Welcome W.T.T. You came to the right place. I'm a documentaholic. Depending on your cable/sat. provider, you might have the DOCumentary channel. (DOC) - Literally everything on their is a documentary and there are some great ones.
I just discovered this channel is on Dish Network last night. Of course the first documentary I watched got me so fired up I called my best friend in Washington, DC - an I.P. attorney and thoroughly bitched him out. The doc was called - RIP!! A Remix Manifesto. You think I didn't like Disney before? Well now I really can't stand 'em. Watch the documentary to find out why.
Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'.... that's damn right.

I will watch. I love this channel, glad you found it. I always used to pass it up because I thought it had something to do with doctors. D'oh.
A book I read referenced "Marjoe"
I haven't seen it yet, but it's on my Netflix list. Here is the Netflix description:
This Oscar-winning documentary explores the life of one-time child evangelist and faith healer Marjoe Gortner. The son of professional evangelists, Gortner was preaching on the Southern tent-revival circuit by the age of 3. Twenty-eight at the time of the film's release, Gortner freely admits to being a scam artist -- but still maintains a compelling charisma, possibly explaining his later career as an actor in B movies and in 1974's Earthquake.
Let us know what documentary you chose, and if it was any good--good luck!
here4beer - I'd say I'm glad you enjoyed it, but that doesn't seem to be the right word, does it?
Scoty & Squirt - thanks for the recommendations! I'll have to check both of those out.
In the lives of children, pumpkins can turn into coaches, and rats into human beings. When we grow up, we learn that it’s far more common for human beings to turn into rats.
I don't know if it interests you, but "March of the Penguins" is wonderful. I thought it would be very boring, but it is definitely one of the best I've seen.
HBO had a documentary on Roman Polanski about a year ago. It was very good as well.
Good luck with the assignment. Let us know what you choose!
This isn't exactly a documentary, but Michael Jackson's last movie "This Is It" has been a getting awesome reviews. It takes you inside as he prepares for his final show.
Ebert loved it and and so has every other review I've seen.
